Iden was the eldest of Richard Henham and Mary Plane’s five sons. His father, in his Will proved 26th March 1700 left his real estate and properties to be equally shared between the five brothers; he was also left £100, which in 1699 would be equivalent today of about £15,000 to £20,000.

Item I will give and bequeath unto my son Enion als Iden Henham the full sum of one hundred pounds of good and lawful money of England to be paid unto my said son Enion als Iden Henham by my Executrix and Executor herein after named, within one year next after my decease.

Iden was also a beneficiary in the Wills of his two brothers, Thomas and John, who died before him.

From Thomas Henham's Will, proved 23 Sept 1735.

Item I give and bequeath unto my brother Iden Henham the sum of five guineas of lawful money of Great Britain payable by my Executor six months after my decease.

From John Henham's Will, proved 1 Jun 1743:-

Item I give and bequeath unto my three loving brothers, Iden Henham, Richard Henham and Gregory Henham, to each and every of them the sum of forty pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain payable, by my Executor hereafter named, twelve months after my decease.

Item I give and bequeath unto my brother Iden Henham, immediately after my decease, over and above the forty pounds last bequeathed, all those my house-hold goods which he hath of mine and now being in his own possession, to hold unto him and his heirs forever.

 

The headstone to Iden Henham's memory is in St Michael's churchyard and reads:-

 

"Here lieth the body of IDEN HENHAM of this parish who died May ye 6th 1745 aged 74 Years."

He first married Mary Simmons, 7 Nov 1695 in Yalding.

Mary wife of Iden (Farmer) was buried on the same day as her infant son John (he was christened William a few days earlier), only seven years after their marriage.

He second married Elizabeth Pail? 10 Jun 1714 in St Michael The Archangel, Smarden.
